This is an English language information program for people living in or visiting the Yatsugatake area, inviting you to join in and experience some of the interesting local events. This is Noriko from the FM Yatsugatake studio in Kobuchisawa.

On Sunday the 26th of March at the Yamabiko Hall in Takane there will be a cello and piano duo recital from 2:30 in the afternoon. Cellist Ludovit Kanta from Slovakia and Paris based pianist Mana Fukui will play Beethoven, Frank and Debussy pieces. It will cost 3,500 yen for an adult or 2,000 yen for a student. On Saturday the 1st of April there will be a live music evening by local singer song writer Shinji Seo and the old, local rock band Dempsy Roll at the live house Palm Spring in Nagasaka from 8 o'clock in the evening. It will cost 1,000 yen. As always drinks will be available at the venue but you are welcome to bring your own food. Inquiries to the Palm Spring on 0551-32-5798
On Sunday the 2nd of April the award winning Hokuto High School Guitar Club will give a spring concert at the Omurasaki Centre in Nagasaka from 1:30 in the afternoon. Inquiries to the Omurasaki Centre on 0551-32-6648
Spring is in the air and the cherry blossom season is coming soon. There are many cherry viewing places in the area. Here are some;
Wanizuka-no-Sakura in Nirasaki is a lone cherry tree on a hill and is over 300 years old. It will be illuminated from the 31st of March until the 9th of April, the dates may change depending on the flowering situation.
At the Jissoji Temple in Mukawa their Cherry Blossom Festival will be held from Saturday the 1st until Sunday the 23rd of April. The Jindai-zakura cherry tree which is thought to be over 2,000 years old and a number of other cherry varieties can be enjoyed there.
On Sunday the 9th of April a cherry blossom festival will be held at the Anayama Sakura Park from 10 o'clock in the morning until 3 in the afternoon. There will be a flea market, performances by local people, plus food and drink stalls. Inquiries to the Nirasaki Tourist Office on 0551-22-1991.
