This is an English language information program for people living in or visiting the Yatsugatake area, inviting you to join in and experience some of the interesting local events. This is Noriko from the FM Yatsugatake studio in Kobuchisawa.
17/18 and 24/25 March 2018
On Sunday the 25th of March at the Civic Centre Nicoli in Nirasaki there will be a Taisho-koto performance by a local group "Nirasaki Suzuran Kai" from 1 o'clock in the afternoon. They will be serving free amazake as well! Inquiries to the Nicoli office on 0551-22-1121
The Yatsugatake Aruko-kai Walking Association is planning to celebrate their 20th year by walking the Koshu-Kaido from Nihon-bashi to Suwa. 14 days are planned between Wednesday the 28th of March and Wednesday the 23rd of October 2019. On the 28th of March they will be walking from Nihon-bashi to Shimo-Takaido, about 16 km, starting at 10 o'clock in the morning. It will cost 1,000 yen to join this walk. On Saturday the 31st of March the award winning Hokuto Senior High School Guitar Club will give a concert at the Omurasaki Centre in Nagasaka. It will start at 1:30 and finishes at 3. On Saturday the 31st of March local singer Aldo Osawa will give a Tenor Solo Concert at the Yatsugatake Yamabiko Hall in Takane from 2:30 in the afternoon. It will cost 2,000 yen in advance or 2,500 yen on the day. Tickets are available from the Music Land Shimizu at Nagasaka Kirara City and other places. Inquiries by telephone on 090-4535-0641.
On Sunday the 1st of April at the Garakusha Woodwork Furniture Studio in Takane a "handmade for curry" day is planned. There will be silver spoon making, plate making, tin stove making, and wooden stool making workshops, all for curry, as well as a café and Okayu-pan Maru, rice bread stall. You can book yourself on those workshops in advance on 090-8442-1986.
On Saturday the 7th of April the annual Takeda-no-Sato Walk will be held in Nirasaki. There will be 4 courses to choose from according to your fitness; 34, 24, 12 and 8 kilometre courses. It will cost between 1,000 and 2,000 yen and you will have to book your place in advance. Inquiries to Nirasaki City Education Department on 0551-22-1111
