Introductory Mountaineering Course
This three-part course offers both classroom instruction and a hands-on hiking experience in the mountains of Nirasaki City.
The first session will be held on Saturday, June 7, and will focus on “Clothing and Equipment.” The second session will take place on Saturday, June 14, covering “How to Plan a Hike with a Map and a Compass.”
Both sessions are from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Nicori in Nirasaki.
The third session will be a field hike on Saturday, June 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Participants will climb Sentōboshiyama, located on the western side of Mt. Amari.
The course will be led by members of the Hakuho Mountaineering Club.

Forest Culture Class: Coffee Drip Brewing Workshop
This workshop will be held on Sunday, June 15, from 10:00 a.m. to noon
at the Hosaka Nature Park Fureai Center in Hosaka-machi, Nirasaki City.
With support from the Cocktail-do Nirasaki Factory, participants will learn how to enjoy authentic drip coffee under the guidance of a certified coffee meister.
Please bring your own cup. The participation fee is 500 yen.

Call for Performers: Yatsugatake Acoustic Party
A “Music Party” organized by music lovers from Hokuto City will be held on Sunday, October 5, from 1:15 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. at Yatsugatake Yamabiko Hall.
We’re looking for performers who play instruments such as piano, guitar, or flute, as well as singers. Group performances are also welcome. Anyone who loves music is warmly invited to join the party!
Each performance, including a brief self-introduction, should be within 10 minutes. Participation is free of charge.

Yatsugatake Farmers’ Market 2025
The annual Yatsugatake Farmers’ Market returns this year on May 17 and 18 from 9 a.m. The venue is the Hanano Sato special event site in Fujimi Kogen Ski Resort, Nagano Prefecture.
Thirty-five growers will sell flower and vegetable seedlings directly, and a gardening workshop will be offered. Charity seedlings will also be available to support the Noto Peninsula earthquake recovery—your cooperation is much appreciated. Food trucks will be on site, so come and enjoy the event with your family.

6th Midai Herb Festival
The 6th Midai Herb Festival will take place on Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The venue is the Herb Garden at Midai Minami Park in Mujina, Minami-Alps City.
This “Festival of Music and Herbs” features stage performances held around the herb garden, along with around 40 booths offering handmade crafts and delicious food and drinks.

Environmental Cleanup: Golden Tickseed Removal Operation
This cleanup event will be held on Saturday, May 31, from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
The meeting point is the parking lot of the Peter Hall at Heidi’s Village in Akeno-cho, Hokuto City.
After learning about the current spread of Golden Tickseed in Hokuto City and how to properly remove and dispose of it, participants will take part in hands-on removal work.
Participation is free of charge and open to elementary school children and older. Registration is open from May 14 to 28.

Heartwarming Handicrafts Exhibition
This exhibition is open until Tuesday, May 27. The location is Tsugane School in Sutama-cho, Hokuto City.
The exhibition features delightful handcrafted works by three artists: Ayako Kawaguchi, a woodworking artist, Hiroko Suzuki, a ceramic accessory artist, and Jinko Kaneko, who creates hats and clothing using plant-dyed fabrics and felt.
Their creations are made to be used, displayed, and worn—each bringing joy in its own way.

Led by drummer, composer, and producer Kei Hirai, this seven-member music project blends jazz, pop, classical, and world music—delivering beautiful melodies and dynamic rhythms that captivate audiences.

Exploring the Mysteries of Kanayama Gold Mines
This exciting walking event will be held on Saturday, May 31, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:40 p.m.
Participants will gather at Hokuto City Hall before setting out to explore the remains of gold veins on Mt. Mako and Mt. Zengo-no-Atama, located south of Mt. Mizugaki.
Mr. Shigeo Yazaki, board member of the Yamanashi Chapter of the Japanese Alpine Club, will guide you to explore Hokuto’s gold rush history!

Intermediate Igo Class
The class is held every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to noon until March 25 next year. The location is the Hokuto City Igo Museum in Nagasaka-cho, Hokuto City.
The class is intended for players of upper beginner level or higher, with the goal of reaching the shodan level. The class is limited to around 30 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.
