The 4th Tsugane School Calligraphy Exhibition
The Calligraphy Exhibition is open to the public until February 28 in the exhibition room of Tsugane School located in Sandaikosha Fureai no Sato.
This exhibition features the works of students from the Oizumi Yatsumine Calligraphy Class, the Tsugane School Calligraphy Class, and the Nirasaki Nikori Calligraphy Class.

Setsubun Festival at Unganji Temple
The Setsubun Festival will take place on Sunday, February 2, starting at 3 PM. The location is Unganji Temple in Chuo-cho, Nirasaki City.
Setsubun is a traditional event observed on the day before the beginning of spring to ward off misfortune and evil spirits while praying for a year of health and well-being.
Prayers will be offered for household safety, traffic safety, and good harvests, followed by a bean-throwing event in front of the main hall.
Afterward, chanko-nabe (a hot pot stew) will be served.
This year as well, three sumo wrestlers from the Hakkaku Stable will be welcomed as special guests.

◇Nirasaki City 70th Anniversary Concert
Nirasaki City will celebrate its 70th anniversary with a concert titled “Hyakusetsu Futou” on Sunday, March 9, at 3 PM. The venue is Tokyo Electron Nirasaki Cultural Hall in Fujii-cho, Nirasaki City.
The wind instrument group “MOS” and the Nirasaki High School Brass Band will perform at the event.
“MOS” stands for “Music Omotenashi Sisters”, and the group features four wind instruments—tenor saxophone, alto saxophone, trumpet, and trombone—and is dedicated to showcasing the beauty of wind music.

Kenji Festival at Akeno Children's Art Museum
The Kenji Festival will take place on Sunday, January 19th, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at Sudama Fureai Hall.
This festival is an interactive event inspired by the works of the renowned writer Kenji Miyazawa. The event features a lecture about a story called "Juriki no Kongoseki" and a unique theater performance in which the audience can participate. This festival is suitable for both adults and children to enjoy. Furthermore, attendees will receive special sweets inspired by the stories of Kenji Miyazawa.
The participation fee is 300 yen for adults and free for children, and seats are limited to 50 people.

New Year's Tea Ceremony
On Saturday, January 25th, the New Year's Tea Ceremony will take place in the entrance hall of the Kindaichi Haruhiko Library in Oizumi. The event will start at 2 PM.
Students from the Koryo High School Tea Ceremony Club will perform a traditional otemae (tea preparation). This tea ceremony is open to everyone and free of charge. Chairs will be available, so even those who find it difficult to sit in a traditional kneeling position can participate comfortably.

"Winter Activity Fun"
On Saturday, February 8th, and Sunday, February 9th, the Yatsugatake Youth Nature Center’s outdoor program, "Winter Activity Fun," will take place. The venue is the Yatsugatake Youth Nature Center in Kiyosato.
Participants can enjoy a variety of activities, including a tent sauna experience and pizza making.

On Saturday, January 18th, at 2:30 PM, the 53rd Neera Yose Rakugo event will take place.
The venue is Zouzen-in Temple, located in Chuo-cho, Nirasaki City.
Rakugo stories will be performed by Shunpūtei Benkyou and Katsura Shinbei.
Enjoy two Rakugo stories from each storyteller, making a total of four entertaining performances.
Tickets are priced at 2,000 yen for adults and 1,000 yen for students and children.

On Sunday, January 19th, there will be a film event featuring “Yumemiru Kocho-Sensei” at Sutama Fureai Hall.
There are two showings at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
The film highlights nine principals, who implemented "children-first" approaches in their schools.
The event includes a 10-minute talk by the film’s director, Mr. Ohta Vin, followed by a meet-and-greet session.
Admission is 800 yen, while high school students and younger can attend for free. No reservation is required.
